COLLABORATIVE MANAGEMENT OF FORESTS WITH NFA

National Forestry Authority, NFA meets Million Trees International Organisation (Greening Uganda Campaign). 12th September 2022, Bugoloobi NFA Head Offices In the journey to restore Ugandas Forestry Cover, today 12th September 2022, the National Forestry Authority NFA hosted a team from Million Trees International Organisation (Greening Uganda Campaign) to discuss how best forests in Uganda can be protected. "we appreciate that NFA has lived to protect Central Forest Reserves in Uganda, and this is why natural forests are still existing in Uganda amidst challenges of political materialism, little budget, and other challenges. More thanks to the existing agencies for having managed to protect Ugandas Forests. However, its today we can easily realize to solve a number of challenges exerting negative pressure on the Forestry Sector. Greening Uganda Campaign is here for everyone to actively participate in Uganda Eco-Community Restoration," said Dr. Jibril S Owomugisha founding director of Million Trees. This meeting was meant to set up clear working structures between National Forestry Authority, NFA as a government agency with a community-based organization, Million Trees International Organisation which is using locally based approaches to involve local people in Climate Change Resilient Measures via sensitization and active involvement via tree growing for restoration and Agroforestry Programs. "youre clearly doing a great job on community sensitization towards developing a positive mindset on environmental protection. We only need to identify which target groups of people should receive this information for sustainable results and via which methods of communication. The largest group of people are still in the past era and rarely can easily get information via Media, or Television. We believe they can listen through communal gatherings, religious organized sessions and other locally based sensitisation Programs. We need you for collaborative management of forests and public awareness especially on involving local people in Climate Change Resilient Measures," said Mr. Tom Okello NFA Executive Director. The meeting was attended by both staffs of two institutions whereby a number of resolutions have been taken for sustainable implementation and evaluation of impacts on environmental protection.
